Sri Lanka Telecom: SLT-MOBITEL Entrepreneurship Studio organized a demonstration day for the first cohort.


SLT-MOBITEL, the national provider of ICT solutions, recently organized a ‘demo day’ for the first cohort of its pioneering initiative, Entrepreneurship Studio 2021-2022. The event celebrated the culmination of the rigorous mentoring and coaching program that encourages start-ups to develop and develop their ideas.

20 entrepreneurs were shortlisted as finalists for the first cohort of Entrepreneurship Studio 2021-2022 and concluded stages of mentoring sessions with access to experts who support them at all stages of growth and development. After 14 weeks of coaching, the “Demo Day” presented their career paths and their products to a distinguished panel. 12 winning numbers will receive up to LKR 1 million starter package to grow their business.

SLT-MOBITEL, as the country’s technology leader focused on developing digital infrastructure, established the Entrepreneurship Studio to serve as the focal point for the local start-up ecosystem. The ongoing program is SLT-MOBITEL’s commitment to support and motivate tech start-ups and entrepreneurs from key sectors towards innovative technology and digital transformation.

The program launched in May attracted 200 applications. The 20 selected entrepreneurs attended comprehensive seminars, workshops and boot camps, and benefited from mentoring and coaching, all aimed at helping these young entrepreneurs turn their ideas into reality.

During the sessions, participants received valuable information on a wide range of topics including marketing, infrastructure and technology, strategy, law, local and global market outlook, and more. to transmit the necessary entrepreneurial knowledge. The expertise of SLT-MOBITEL and external staff contributed as resource panelists providing mentoring support.

The ‘Entrepreneurship Studio’ program is led by ‘The Embryo’, SLT Group’s pioneering new research and development initiative that aims to be the epicenter of the country’s evolving tech scene, providing valuable exposure to local talent and leading a multichannel innovation pipeline to build cutting-edge digital solutions.

With the success of the Entrepreneurship Studio’s first start-up program, SLT-MOBITEL has plans in place to host the event for another cohort next year as well. Interested start-ups are advised to wait for details to apply for the program.
